Appointment to WHO Advisory Group

In September 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe launched its Technical Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence for Health (TAG-AI) to guide the ethical, safe, and equitable use of AI in health across the region.

Selected from over 330 applicants, only 10 international experts were appointed to serve on this high-level advisory group, which reports directly to the WHO Regional Director for Europe under the new European Programme of Work 2026–2030.

We are proud to share that Professor Lampros Stergioulas, from The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS)and the UNESCO Chair in AI and Data Science for Society, was among the experts selected to join this influential panel. The TAG-AI will advise on AI governance, risk evaluation, capacity-building, and the advancement of people-centred and rights-based innovation in digital health systems.

“Together, you form a strong, powerful team,” Dr Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe.
