The UNINOVIS International Conference Innovating Together, hosted by the Universidad de Málaga, brought together academics, researchers, and partners from across Europe to advance applied data science through collaboration, openness, and meaningful societal impact. The conference formed part of the activities of UNINOVIS – Data for L.I.F.E., an EU-funded European University Alliance focused on strengthening data science education, research, and innovation ecosystems.
Research Highlights
The programme addressed key challenges and opportunities in applied data science, with particular attention to inclusivity, interdisciplinarity, and real-world impact. On the first day of the conference, Professor Lampros Stergioulas chaired the Diversity session and presented two research papers on data-driven inequalities in education and health, co-authored with colleagues from The Hague University of Applied Sciences. He also contributed to the conference as a member of the Scientific Committee.

Beyond the formal sessions, the conference provided space for in-depth exchanges among UNINOVIS partners and associate partners, supporting the development of new collaborations and the alignment of ongoing research and educational initiatives. The event reaffirmed UNINOVIS’s ambition to build a strong European network in data sciences, with active innovation ecosystems and global connections.
